Call for Letters: A Letter to My Freshman Self (2nd Ed.)

Overview: The book’s goal is to provide perennial guidance to incoming freshmen to help them get the most out of their college experience and feel more connected to our Lady’s University through the wisdom of their predecessors. The first edition of the book was published in June 2016 and has been an integral part of the Moreau First-Year Experience Course, a course that helps new students to make a meaningful transition to life at Notre Dame. A wide range of notable and recent ND alumni from graduating classes of 1957 to 2016 contributed to the first edition.

The New Edition: The second edition will be different from the first in that, in addition to letters from alumni, it will include the voices of current students; students who have completed the new Moreau First Year Experience Course and want to offer a reflection to their not-so-distant freshman selves.

Distribution & Profit: This book will be distributed to all members of the University of Notre Dame Class of 2022 in Spring 2018 as well as sold in the Hammes Bookstore, on Amazon, through Corby Publishing, and various other outlets. All proceeds from the book will be donated to the First Year of Studies to support student initiatives.

Call for Letters: We are seeking diverse experiences and lessons learned over the author’s undergraduate Notre Dame experience. Specific stories with vulnerable reflections are encouraged. Read sample letters from the first edition here. Word count: 400-600 words. Letters are reviewed on a rolling basis until mid-February, 2018.
